Third generation bio-fuel project launched in Kolaghat TPS

Kolkatta based organization is setting up a third generation based algae based bio-fuel which can be used to power boilers and also to reduce carbon prints. The technology traps generated carbon-dioxide in a pond, where it is utilized in algae farming. It can also produce edible spirulina (high in protein) and oil cakes which can be as fuel making it as a self-sustaining technology. Sun Plant Agro plans to start commercial production of algae bio fuel by 2010. This type of bio fuel is more efficient as this algae will generate 300 times more oil than jatropha or soybean.
