Indian Sugar Manufacturing Co to set up 9 MW bagasse based cogeneration at Havinal in Bijapur district in Karnataka. The total land requirement including sugar plant is 16.86 ha. Bagasse will be used as fuel. During the off-season when bagasse is not available cogeneration will be stopped. The total water requirement is estimated as 1544 m3/day, which will partly be met from the waste water of the sugar plant and partly from Bhima river.

Falcon Tyres to set up 6 MW cogen plant at Metagall in Mysore in Karnataka. The main fuel would be rice husk and wood chips. In addition Coffee husk, cotton stalks, cane trash will also be used. In case of shortage of biomass, imported coal will be used. Total fuel requirement is estimated as 130 TPD. The land requirement for the power plant is 3.5 acres. Water requirement is 1537 kld, which will be met from Vani Vilas Water Board. The ash generation is estimated as 11 TPD, which will be sold to brick manufactures and farmers.

Athani Farmers Sugar Factory to set up 24 MW biomass power project at Navnihal in Athjani taluk in Belgaum district of Karnataka. The land requirement is 10 acres. Bagasse / biomass will be used as fuel. Water will be obtained from Krishna river.
