Davangere Sugar Co to set up 30 MW biomass power project

Davangere Sugar Mills is planning to set up a 30 MW biomass based power project in Kukkuwada village in Davangere Taluk, in Davangere district in Karnataka.The existing 24 MW Co-Generation Power Plant is in operation since 2004. Land requirement will be 1.81 acres, which is available within the existing power plant. Bagasse will be the primary source of fuel. Besides bagasse, sugarcane trash, maize and rice husk will also be used as Bio-Mass. Biomass requirement will be 176682 MTPA. About 3108 MTPA fly ash will be generated which will be supplied to nearby brick kilns. Water requirement will be 4.0 MLD, which will be obtained from Shyagale hall through existing intake well and conveyed through a pipeline over a distance of 1.5 km.
