Raghu Rama Renewable Energy Ltd to set up 18 MW biomass project at Pamboor in Paramakudi in Tamil Nadu. The project involves setting up of power generation unit which uses bio fuels. The project had been completed in 2004.

Beach Minerals to set up biomass gasifiers in southern Tamil Nadu

Beach Minerals Co Pvt Ltd had set up biomass gasifiers for thermal generation unit in Village: Mulikadu in Tuticorin and Kuttam in Tirunelveli district of southern Tamil Nadu. The project will use Prosopis Juliflora which is widely available in the region and had been completed in 2009.

Clenergen to set up biomass plants in south India


Clenergen Corp, a clean renewable energy company based in US has set up an Indian subsidiary “Clenergen India Pvt Ltd “. It has recently acquired a 1.5 MW biomass plant in Salem in Tamil Nadu and is looking at organic and inorganic ways to capture market. It plans to invest USD 100 million to generate 71 MW of power using biomass. These plants will come up in south India were it has identified feedstock like bamboo and other special plants which will reduce feedstock costs by 50%. Its next greenfield biomass plant is likely to come up in Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu.

ACS Alternative Fuels to set up jatropha biodiesel unit near Arupukottai in Tamil Nadu


ACS Alternative Fuels Pvt Ltd, the Indian subsidiary of Allied Carbon Solutions, Japan has met farmers recently in Arupukkotai in Tamil Nadu and has sought contract farming of jatropha in 10000 acres of land. It is also setting up a biodiesel mill which will have a capacity of 10 tonnes of crude jatropha oil. It will process 40 tonnes of seeds daily and the biodiesel fuel is likely to be exported to USA and Japan. The company will pay the farmers around Rs.12-15/- for a kg of jatropha seeds depending on quality
