Orissa Biomass Projects

IBEUL to set up 20 MW biomass power plant

Ind-Barath Energy Utkal Limited (IBEUL), which is setting up a 700 MW (2x350) coal-based power plant at Sahajbahal in Orissa’s Jharsuguda district, has proposed to set up a 20 MW biomass power plant at Chiplima near Sambalpur at an investment of Rs 800 million and is expected to become operational within 18 months of land allotment. It may be noted, the company already has 6.6 MW biomass plant in operation in Miryalguda in Andhra Pradesh and another 20 MW biomass plant in Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu which uses Juli flora as the main raw material along with other agro crop residues.

Orissa government approves 8 bio-mass power projects totalling 90 Mw capacity

In a bid to promote power generation from wastes like rice husk, groundnut and coconut cover and other agricultural waste, the Orissa government has approved the setting up of 8 bio-mass based power projects with a combined generation capacity of 90 Mw by private developers. These projects will come up in Raygada, Nawarangpur, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri, Dhenkanal and Puri districts. The Sali Vahana Green Energy will set up a 20 Mw bio-mass based power plant in Dhenkanal and Satya Bio-Power Industry Ltd plans to set up a 10 Mw plant in Ganjam. AVN Power Projects proposes to set up 10 Mw power plant in Kalahandi and Prasad Bio-Energy will set up a 10 Mw unit in Raygada. While Jaylaxmi Bio-Energy Ltd plans to set up a 10 Mw unit in Nayagarh another plant of similar capacity by Andhavarapu Bio-Energy Ltd will come up in Nawarangpur. Sampath Power Projects Ltd and Falcon Green Energy Ltd propose units of 10 Mw capacity each in Khurda and Puri respectively.

Sathyam Power Pvt. Ltd to set up 10 MW biomass project at Khatoli

Sathyam Power Pvt. Ltd to set up 10 MW biomass project at Khatoli in Kota district of Orissa. Mustered husk and agro waste will be used as main fuel. Coal / lignite upto 30% will be used as supportive fuel. Water requirement is 200 m3/day, which will be obtained from tube wells and Parvati river at a distance of 5 km. The land requirement is 11.05 ha. Air cooled condensers will be provided.

Shalivahana Projects Ltd to set up 20 MW biomass based power project at Nimidha

Shalivahana Projects Ltd to set up 20 MW biomass based power project at Nimidha village in Dhenkanal district of Orissa. Rice husk, cotton stalk, saw dust and Juliflora will be used as fuel. Coal will be used as auxillary fuel upto 15%. Total land requirement is 33 acres. Water requirement is 2400 m3/day, which will be met from Brahamani river.
