A2Z Maintenance & Engineering Services is setting up a 15 MW biomass project in Morinda in Kainaur Road in Punjab. The project involves setting up of one biomass fired CFBC boiler, extraction cum condensing type steam turbine, electric generator and power evacuation systems. The project cost is estimated at Rs. 813 million. The boiler will intake paddy straw, bagasse or subabul. The project is likely to go operational in 2012.

Junagarh Power Projects Pvt Ltd is planning to invest Rs. 500 million to set up a 10 MW biomass based power generation project at Khokharda village under Vanthall taluka of Junagarh in Gujarat. The project is likely to go operational in September 2010. It may be noted, companies which are setting upto 15 MW power generation units with clean technology need not have to receive environment clearances.

Beckons Industries Ltd is planning to set up a bio diesel plant using algae as feedstock at Derabassi in Punjab with an investment of Rs. 600 million with technical support from Austrian company and is planning to raise Rs.500 million through GDR. Mr. Gurmeet Singh – Mg.Dir. Bio Diesel has high component of unsaturated fatty acids and is also suitable as a bio jet fuel.
